DIY Polecat Install
Units come complete with an installation pack that contains the following:
1 Connector
1 Bush (1 Spare)
1 Drill Bit
2 Foam Feet
1 Glue Sachet
You may need an extra pair of hands to install your Hicat® plus a step ladder, tape measure, pencil & a drill that can hold a 12mm bit
Give the unit a good vacuum to remove any loose fibres
Install the short end of the ceiling connector in the top of the unit
Remove cat
Once you’ve decided on the position mark-up a centre hole on the ceiling
Drill a hole at the centre mark at least 20mm deep using the drill bit & insert the bush into the ceiling - apply a dab of glue to the bush (literally a drop spread around the outside of the shaft & around the collar) before you insert it to help keep it in place over time
With the seam facing away from you & keeping the unit as vertical as possible lift it unit & locate the connector into the bush
Remove cat
It may be helpful to have someone on a step ladder to guide the unit into position while you manoeuvre it
After the unit is installed the connector should extend into the bush by at least 10mm - as a visual check the gap between the top of the unit & ceiling should be 20mm or less after installation
Remove cat
Make sure the unit is plumb
Remove cat
Remember to give your unit a quick check over from time-to-time to make sure that the connector is correctly engaged & the unit is stable before allowing your cat to play on it
If your unit is installed on a hard smooth floor & moves during boisterous play stick the foam pads onto the feet to stop any unwanted movement - it’s important that the unit is lifted into position after the foam pads have been stuck onto the feet as sliding the unit will cause the pads to ruck
Playtime…
