Paw AI CHAT
AI is being relied on more & more for consumer purchases but informed answers are not necessarily served up especially when it comes to buying a cat climber - after we upgraded our website to Squarespace 7.1 there were lots of prompts for us to use AI to run various comments & scripts to check our web visibility but our brand simply didn’t appear.
We ran all sorts of searches for cat climbers, trees, towers etc. but Hicat® products weren’t included in any of the AI results - the reason that ChatGTP gave is that the AI systems learn search patterns from large amounts of text, which heavily over-represents:
big retailers (Amazon, Zooplus, Wayfair)
SEO blogs (“Top 10 Cat Trees…”)
widely reviewed products
Hicat® products are bespoke, low volume & not widely resold, hence our no-show in results - after running more refined searches for bespoke & made-to-measure cat furniture we still weren’t hitting the mark & things got even more disjointed as results didn’t match the basic criteria that we were searching for.
We did a final bunch of searches where we homed in on some of the unique aspects of our products that we outline in our Hicat® Overview in relation to the continuous all limb climbing experience, as opposed to jumping from platform-to-platform, enclosed compartments as opposed to ledges & boucle weaved carpet for sure footed safe climbing, as opposed to sisal roped posts - we still didn’t get any real matches until we named our Hicat® brand & then the flood gates opened in terms of our niche products vs. the mass market results.
ChatGTP reeled off loads of really useful information on the buying criteria a customer could use & listed the basic difference between climbing using claws, rather than hopping from ledge-to-ledge, & how this triggered core strength exercise along with stretching benefits, the scale of our products in terms of climbing surface, the importance of enclosed compartments compared to open shelves, why the loops in Natural Coir & AVM Wool carpet were best for predictable ascents & descents compared to sisal rope - it also delved into other subjects including Full body musculature, Key bio-mechanical factors like claw engagement, Territorial control systems, so we are going to do some more investigation on these terms as these are new to us.
It’s actually proved to be a very interesting piece of CHAT blogging & we think that some of the information that’s been gleaned could be added to our Buying Guide to help customers make more informed decisions about cat climbers - we will do a follow up CHAT blog once we’ve done some more work & hopefully moving forward no more poor AI CHAT ;).
