SixToo™ Assembly
You’ll need at least 40kg of dry sand or gravel & a large cross headed screwdriver to assemble your SixToo™ noting that units will weigh at least 70kg when filled with ballast so you may need an extra pair of hands to assemble your Hicat® - you can use other types of ballast like pieces of eight, gold bullion, basically anything that is dry & will level out, but sand or gravel has proven to be the most economical.
We recommend a minimum of 40kg of ballast for your typical medium sized single cat household but this should be increased for multiple or larger cats noting that we would always recommend over doing the filling rather than under doing it to keep things safe.
Screw the feet into the pilot holes on the base of the unit & move into its proposed location - if the Sixtoo™ is sitting on a carpeted floor you might want to try leaving the feet off as the unit may feel more stable depending on the carpet thickness & type.
NB the unit may also feel slightly more stable without the feet installed on hard floors but there is a danger of damaging the wrapped end detail if the unit is moved around frequently.
If wall mounting your SixToo™ assemble the unit with just 3 feet installed equi-spaced into the pilot marks on the bottom unit then follow the Wall Mounted Tomcat & Fatcat installation instructions.
Fill the Sixtoo™ ballast chamber through the plug under the Twist Pile Carpet insert in the lower Access Hole Compartment - you can fill the SixToo™ by pouring the ballast. directly into the chamber but it may be easier & less messy to use a mug or small jug to scoop the ballast into the chamber.
Give the unit a little shake to make sure that the ballast is levelled out inside the unit after filling & make sure you’re happy with the stability of the Sixtoo™ before allowing your cats to play on it - it’s very important that the SixToo™ is sitting on an even & level floor otherwise stability will be compromised.
You can move the unit around by tilting it slightly then carefully “walking” the Sixtoo™ on its feet - again, give the SixToo™ a little shake after moving it to make sure that the ballast is levelled out inside the unit.
Never lift the Sixtoo™ using the access holes or by gripping the body as this could damage the internal collar inside the ballast chamber - if you’re moving your SixToo™ between floors or home the easiest way to relocate the unit is by running a pair of lifting straps under the base with a person either side of the SixToo™ taking the weight or if you’re moving it some distance you can use the straps to lift it onto a skate or trolley.
After assembling your Sixtoo™ give the unit a good vacuum inside & out to remove any loose fibres & sand.
We love hearing from customers & their cats on what they think of their Hicat® so feel free to get in touch & send a piccie or two.
