At Home At Alaska...

The Alaska Buildings has been our home for the last three years & we’ve enjoyed every second here so far - Hicat®, along with SE1 Picture Frames, occupy the only two commercial studios at this SE1 address so are delighted that we’ve had the opportunity to stay for another three years & to celebrate signing a new lease thought it would be nice to show everyone around this iconic estate.

It’s also worth reading up on the history of the building, designed by Wallis, Gilbert & Partners & dating back to 1869, from fur-skin merchant in the 19th century to RAF & US Air Force flight suit makers during The Second World War - there are some interesting threads on the web that you can search for but if you want a single potted page dose of the site’s history here’s a link to a photo of the plaque that sits at the entrance to The Alaska Buildings.
