New SixToo™...

Using our Magic Freestanding Fatcat as a blue print we are going to start making a line of 182cm Fatcat 2 units that are fabricated to a standard design, rather than with bespoke features & options - using a new fabrication technique will reduce the unit price by up to 40% as we’ve identified some buying opportunities to help bring down the supply cost but the most significant saving will be around the fabrication process.

We’ve come up with a new construction method where we fabricate using a full scale one piece template to mark-up & then assemble the unit inside & out without having to cut open the laminated core - this will save us heaps of time & having carpet patterns & shelves pre-cut to a single design means that the assembly time will also be reduced significantly.

The 6ft tall unit will have two Access Hole Compartments with Full Shelves & is similar in configuration to the bespoke Tall Bobcat as it will use a ballast chamber in the bottom to keep the unit stable & fabricating without having to cut the core means that its better engineered to handle the 40kg of ballast that’s filled through the end cap - these stock item pieces will give customers an alternative to a bespoke unit & we will be looking to see if we can organise a drop shipment of units to the USA by sea to help swerve the jaw dropping courier cost associated with shipping by air in single numbers.

Our first sample has been made & the bit that we thought would be really tricky - forming & finishing the internal Access Hole wrap from outside - was actually relatively straight forward after designing a new cutting template - the assembly of the unit has also been trialled & we’ve come up with packaging & assembly kit to try & make life as easy as possible for customers when filling the units with ballast.

Whilst fabricating & testing the sample piece, we felt that the adopted Magic 6 Fatcat moniker was a bit of a mouthful so decided on the SixToo™ name to set it apart from our other freestanding & bespoke units - the name is taken from the height & access hole configuration plus as mentioned in our Instagram feed we also noted some other interesting facts that sealed the name change including its proposed £620 price tag, which is 62% of its bespoke Fatcat 2 counterpart & the height of our Maker who designed & fabricated the unit is 6’ 2” :).

We’ve not enrolled any Christmas Elves to help make SixToo™ but are busy fabricating stock in between orders ready for Santa - we’ll send out a separate newsletter when SixToo™ is available for purchase.
