Hicat® Training Videos Notes...
After we posted our New Hicat Training Videos blog we received an email from a newsletter reader offering a word of caution - they sensibly questioned whether we should add some notes to the Videos page for those thinking about trying out these training activities with their cats.
Like the installation instructions for our climbers we have a common sense approach in trying to make sure things are kept safe - home life with our cats served as valuable R&D for our products in terms of safety noting that no animals or humans have been harmed in the making of these videos or ever for that matter.
Supervision is obviously key until you & your cat are happy with the arrangements - practice makes perfect for example Training Video 19 Balancing is probably Tuco’s 100+ ledge walk after 20 or 30 trial walks where we followed him ready to intervene if he became unsteady or looked uncomfortable noting that this was his idea of fun & he used to call to us when he was about to perform this trick!
Training Video 23 Jogging is another of Tuco’s more extreme interests & again, we practiced at walking speeds to start working up to a jog sometimes but never at speeds where things could become risky, like sprinting & never unattended - Bello had a different idea of fun to Tuco & as far as we know Snuggling, Swinging, Wobbling, Fetching, Sleeping will never cut it as extreme sports.
